Snowday Sweets

The weatherman said snow was in the forecast and my girls couldn’t have been more ecstatic!  While everyone else rushed to the grocery store for bread, milk and eggs — we opted for cupcakes and marshmallows, of course!  We had been wanting to make these cute little Snowmen Cupcakes for a while and this felt like the perfect time to do so. It was super simple and I am sure your kids will love doing it with you. Perfect for snow days or around the holidays too!

Here’s what you need:
Cupcake Mix
Cupcake Pan
Cupcake Liners
White icing
Pretzel sticks
Black decorating icing in a tube
Orange decorating icing or candy corn for the nose

Here’s what to do:
While your cupcakes are baking, simply connect two marshmallows together by inserting a pretzel stick into the center of each one to form the head and body of your snowman.  Be sure not to let the pretzel pierce through the top of the marshmallow because then he will have a hole in the top of his head.

Stick another pretzel from the bottom of the body so that you will be able to insert it into the cupcake to hold your little snowman upright.  Now place two more pretzels (one on each side) into the “body marshmallow” so that you create his arms.

Use your decorating black icing tube to add coal buttons to the body and the eyes and a mouth to the head.  Then use the orange icing to make the nose.

Once your cupcakes come out of the oven and cool – smooth your white icing over the top and then insert your little snowmen into the tops of the cupcakes using the pretzel from the body to secure him into place.

Yummmmm! So much better than bread, eggs and milk, right? And you know after a day or two stuck inside – everyone in the house is going to be ready to pull their hair out and kill one another! Let’s be honest! So, having something on hand to take up some time and have a little fun is always a smart idea for those exciting yet exhausting snow days for us Moms!
